{"id":174968,"date":"2016-08-12T09:01:30","date_gmt":"2016-08-12T07:01:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=174968"},"modified":"2016-08-12T09:31:21","modified_gmt":"2016-08-12T07:31:21","slug":"telkom-freeme-vs-data-only-bundle-weirdness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/174968-telkom-freeme-vs-data-only-bundle-weirdness.html","title":{"rendered":"Telkom FreeMe vs data-only bundle weirdness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telkom recently launched its FreeMe packages, which are available as contract deals or as bundles for prepaid subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>The packages allow you to choose how much data you want, and include free data for certain instant messaging services, free calls to Telkom numbers, and 10GB of free Wi-Fi data.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the free IM data has a fair use limit of 2GB and applies to WhatsApp, BBM, and Viber.<\/p>\n<p>Calls made to other networks on FreeMe are charged at 69c per minute, billed per second.<\/p>\n<p>When comparing the FreeMe packages to Telkom&#8217;s data-only bundles, it becomes evident you should no longer buy the network\u2019s old data bundles &#8211; with a few exceptions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are no FreeMe bundles under 500MB.<\/li>\n<li>FreeMe bundles last 31 days.
