{"id":177189,"date":"2016-08-26T10:58:19","date_gmt":"2016-08-26T08:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=177189"},"modified":"2016-08-26T11:00:33","modified_gmt":"2016-08-26T09:00:33","slug":"telkom-fair-use-warning-to-uncapped-lte-subscribers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wireless\/177189-telkom-fair-use-warning-to-uncapped-lte-subscribers.html","title":{"rendered":"Telkom fair use warning to uncapped LTE subscribers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telkom has sent SMS notices to certain\u00a0uncapped LTE subscribers to warn them their connections may be throttled.<\/p>\n<p>It reminded subscribers that their uncapped LTE services are subject to an acceptable use policy (AUP).<\/p>\n<p>The AUP has not been fully enforced, and Telkom said it will start implementing it from September.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom&#8217;s plan to implement its AUP comes after subscribers\u00a0complained they were\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadband\/173644-telkom-lte-network-improvements-within-a-week.html\"><strong>getting slow speeds on Telkom&#8217;s LTE network<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom said the most congested areas\u00a0should have started seeing improvements from the beginning of August.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Telkom\u2019s warning SMS<\/h3>\n<p>The warning SMS is shown\u00a0below.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dear Telkom LTE customer, our LTE uncapped services are governed by an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).<\/p>\n<p>Telkom reserves the right to apply restrictions if a customer\u2019s behaviour is deemed to affect the experience of other LTE users on the network.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that Telkom will start to implement the AUP from September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Your current usage puts you at risk to be impacted by the policy, which may lead to throttling. Go to http:\/\/telkom.site\/AUP to view the AUP. T&amp;Cs apply.
