Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko has informed staff that talks between the company and the\u00a0CWU at the CCMA have failed.<\/p>\n
In a letter sent to staff, Maseko said he has “therefore decided to\u00a0implement the 50th percentile adjustment which will ensure all employees below the 50th percentile within the bargaining unit are brought up to an equal minimum level”.<\/p>\n
This is at the mid-point (in other words the 50th percentile) of a market-related benchmark, he said.<\/p>\n
“Management employees should also note that the company will in the next two years make a provision to align these employees closer to market 50th percentile.”<\/span><\/p>\n He said Telkom has gone out of its way “to meet with CWU to ensure we find a resolution to the strike”.<\/p>\n “These efforts have so far not proven successful,” said Maseko.<\/p>\n “I encourage CWU members who are on strike to come back to work. In these difficult and trying economic times it is important for you to be at work.”<\/span><\/p>\n Maseko reminded workers that those who do strike must abide by the two court orders against the CWU.<\/p>\n These prevent the union from, among other things, blocking access to and from Telkom\u00a0premises and interfering with other Telkom employees.<\/p>\n The \u201cno work no pay” rule will continue to apply.<\/p>\nMore on Telkom<\/h3>\n
