means 20Gbps mobile data speeds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese company Anritsu has published a document summarising the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lightreading.com\/lg_redirect.asp?piddl_lgid_docid=725738\" target=\"_blank\">status of the standardisation of 5G<\/a><\/strong> in the 3GPP.<\/p>\n<p>It said the International Telecommunication Union &#8211; Radio communication study group (ITU-R) will request organisations to submit 5G standards based on its recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>After being evaluated, the standards that succeed will be authorised and known as IMT\u20132020.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of 4G, or IMT-Advanced, the ITU-R authorised LTE-Advanced submitted by the 3GPP and WiMAX-Advanced from the WiMAX Alliance.<\/p>\n<p>For 5G, the requirements are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spectrum Efficiency is required to be 3x better than IMT-Advanced.<\/li>\n<li>The peak data rate must be better by a factor of 20.<\/li>\n<li>Area Traffic Capacity must be 100x better than IMT-Advanced.<\/li>\n<li>The standard must work while travelling at 500km\/h, to be applicable for magnetic levitation trains.<\/li>\n<li>Network Energy Efficiency must be 100x better.<\/li>\n<li>Latency must be 1 millisecond.<\/li>\n<li>Connection density must be 1 million connections per square kilometre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/IMT-Advanced-vs-IMT-2020.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter standard defining 5G will only be authorised in 2020, said Anritsu.<\/p>\n<p>During 2016 and 2017, the ITU-R will complete technical performance specifications, determine an evaluation method and criteria, and design a format of submission.<\/p>\n<p>A workshop will be held in late 2017, and after a deadline for submissions in the middle of 2019, IMT\u20132020 will be evaluated and
