FNB is warning banking customers about a new scam which is doing the rounds in South Africa.<\/p>\n

The bank is issuing a warning to customers when they visit FNB’s online banking portal.<\/p>\n

The scam is based on criminals asking FNB customers to either reactivate or register their FNB card.<\/p>\n

An example of the scam is detailed below.<\/p>\n

Step 1 – Email<\/h3>\n

You will receive an email – including\u00a0an attachment – requesting you to reactivate or register your FNB card, with a warning that failure to do so will lead to the card being suspended.<\/p>\n

Step 2 – Fake website<\/h3>\n

When the attachment is selected, you will be presented with a fake fnb.co.za screen requesting your personal information.<\/p>\n

Step 3 – Profile stolen<\/h3>\n

When you enter your details on this screen, the fraudsters will be in a position to access your banking profile.<\/p>\n

FNB said it will never ask for your username, password, or PIN in an email, SMS, or phone call.<\/p>\n

“Never select a link to our website that was sent via email,” said the bank.<\/p>\n
