INX-ZA has cut the price of its 100Mbps and 1Gbps ports at its Internet exchange (INX) points around the country.<\/p>\n
It also announced it will discontinue its 10Mbps ports in 12 months.<\/p>\n
Internet exchanges offer facilities for ISPs and network operators to link and exchange traffic.<\/p>\n
According to INX-ZA, this reduces the usage of expensive long-distance links and improves network performance.<\/p>\n
Its\u00a0INX points are the Johannesburg Internet Exchange, Cape Town Internet Exchange, and Durban Internet Exchange.<\/p>\n
INX-ZA said it could not significantly drop prices of 10Gbps ports now because transmission costs are too high.<\/p>\n
INX-ZA said once it\u00a0gets good prices from transmission providers, prices will come down.<\/p>\n
