{"id":180838,"date":"2016-09-27T12:10:13","date_gmt":"2016-09-27T10:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=180838"},"modified":"2016-09-28T09:48:37","modified_gmt":"2016-09-28T07:48:37","slug":"big-dstv-channel-changes-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/180838-big-dstv-channel-changes-coming.html","title":{"rendered":"Big DStv channel changes coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MultiChoice has announced that it will be making significant changes to its channel line-up in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>The DStv operator said that after careful consideration it has decided to terminate several channels.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the reason for cancelling these channels, MultiChoice said, is that subscribers were complaining that they saw too many repeats across the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The channels being cancelled and their cancellation dates are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CBS Action<\/strong> and <strong>CBS Drama<\/strong> \u2014 10 October<\/li>\n<li><strong>AMC<\/strong> \u2014 11 November<\/li>\n<li><strong>True Movies<\/strong> \u2014 12 November<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Compensating for the channels that subscribers on cheaper packages would be losing, MultiChoice said it would also be making several channels more broadly available.<\/p>\n<p>MultiChoice said that this decision was informed by feedback from its occasional promotions where it made more exclusive channels available to lower-tier packages.<\/p>\n<p>The following channels will become available on cheaper DStv packages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mzansi Music<\/strong> \u2014 From DStv Access to EasyView and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>JimJam<\/strong> \u2014 From DStv Access to EasyView and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Movies Stars<\/strong> \u2014 From DStv Compact to Family and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lifetime<\/strong> \u2014 From DStv Premium to Extra and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>ITV choice<\/strong> \u2014 From DStv Premium to Extra and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Specialist language<\/strong> channels (e.g. RTP, RAI, BVN) \u2014 From DStv Premium to Extra and up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to the above changes, MultiChoice said it would also continue to add more high definition channels to the platform.<\/p>\n<p>By end of December 2016, DStv will have 35 HD channels, MultiChoice said.<\/p>\n<p>The following 9 channels will change to HD:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BBC First<\/strong> (DStv Premium and up)<\/li>\n<li><strong>History<\/strong> (DStv Extra and up)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Crime &amp; Investigation<\/strong>\u00a0(DStv Extra and up)<\/li>\n<li><strong>M-Net Movies All Stars<\/strong> (DStv Compact and up)<\/li>\n<li><strong>VUZU<\/strong> (DStv Compact and up)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Food Network<\/strong>\u00a0(DStv Compact and up)<\/li>\n<li><strong>M-Net Family<\/strong> (DStv Family and up)<\/li>\n<li><strong>kykNET &amp;
