However, there is hope.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/307071-WASPA-Wireless-Application-Service-Provider-s-Association\" target=\"_self\" title=\"WASPA\">Wireless Application Service Providers&#8217; Association (WASPA)<\/a> recently announced that the vast majority of the consumer complaints about its members handled last year has been amicably resolved.<\/p>\n<p>According to WASPA its adjudicators ruled on 232 complaints during the course of 2010 of which 165 complaints were upheld, 23 were partially upheld and 44 were dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of these complaints were related to billing for services the customer no longer wants or claims not to have signed up for in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the complaints which were upheld resulted in penalties, including hefty fines which were imposed on some offenders.<\/p>\n<p>WASPA also pro-actively monitors service providers.
