The Sunday Independent reported that the ANC has instructed communications minister Faith Muthambi to fire the SABC board and allow for the appointment of an interim board.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, members of parliament resolved that the SABC board must go<\/strong><\/a>, following deliberations on the matter.<\/p>\n All political parties which are members of the Portfolio Committee on Communications agreed that the remaining board members should resign from their positions.<\/p>\n The MPs cited their dissatisfaction with the reappointment of former SABC Chief Operations Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng as among reasons for their decision.<\/p>\n MPs said the current board was dysfunctional and ill-governed, and neglected its fiduciary duty towards the public.<\/p>\n But responding to the parliamentary resolution, SABC board chairperson Mbulaheni Maguvhe slammed MPs for implementing bullying tactics.<\/p>\n Maguvhe stood firm, saying he\u2019s “going nowhere\u201d.<\/p>\n Motsoeneng followed,<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>defending the SABC\u2019s financial performance and his experience and qualifications.<\/p>\n The ANC has now hit back\u00a0at the SABC board, with spokesperson Zizi Kodwa saying Muthambi must suspend the board at once.<\/p>\n The report stated that Kodwa said \u201cthe games played by the SABC board have to come to a stop as a matter of urgency\u201d.<\/p>\n How much the SABC spent on its failed concert<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nMore on the SABC<\/h3>\n
