{"id":182388,"date":"2016-10-10T17:59:38","date_gmt":"2016-10-10T15:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=182388"},"modified":"2016-10-10T18:00:54","modified_gmt":"2016-10-10T16:00:54","slug":"what-dstv-is-doing-about-repeats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/182388-what-dstv-is-doing-about-repeats.html","title":{"rendered":"What DStv is doing about repeats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MultiChoice has announced <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/180838-big-dstv-channel-changes-coming.html\"><strong>major changes to its channel line-up<\/strong><\/a> in the coming months, much of which is aimed at addressing subscriber complaints about frequent repeats.<\/p>\n<p>Among the changes being implemented is the cancellation of\u00a0channels which\u00a0mainly broadcast repeated content.<\/p>\n<p>The first of these cancellations saw\u00a0CBS Action and CBS Drama going off the air on 10 October.<\/p>\n<p>Next in line is AMC on 11 November, followed by True Movies on 12 November.<\/p>\n<p>Although these channels repeated content from the perspective of a Premium DStv subscriber, for those on cheaper packages it was often the only way to view certain shows and movies.<\/p>\n<p>To compensate for the channels that subscribers on cheaper packages are losing, several more DStv channels are being made available to them.<\/p>\n<p>MultiChoice said its decision to make the following channels available to lower-tiered packages was informed by feedback on channel promotions it held.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mzansi Music<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; From DStv Access to EasyView and up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>JimJam<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; From DStv Access to EasyView and up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Movies Stars<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; From DStv Compact to Family and up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lifetime<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; From DStv Premium to Extra and up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ITV choice<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; From DStv Premium to Extra and up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Specialist language<\/strong> channels (RTP, RAI, BVN) &#8211; From DStv Premium to Extra and up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe try to get the latest shows and movies, and when we have to rerun content we try to do it in a creative way not to frustrate subscribers,\u201d said MultiChoice\u2019s head of content Aletta Alberts.<\/p>\n<p>Another change which\u00a0will affect DStv Premium subscribers is that MultiChoice will increase the number of movies available through Catch Up Plus.<\/p>\n<p>Starting in October, running through December, DStv will build up to 1,000 movies on Catch Up Plus.
