While Google\u2019s Go programming language has shown a big increase in popularity over the past year, established\u00a0languages have not fared so well in recent times.<\/p>\n

According the the latest\u00a0Tiobe Index<\/a><\/strong>, languages like C, C++, and PHP have seen a massive drop in popularity over the past 10 years.<\/p>\n

The Tiobe\u00a0Programming Community index is an indicator of the popularity of programming languages, with figures update monthly.<\/p>\n

The index shows that\u00a0Go and Groovy have climbed the rankings more than any other language over the past year.<\/p>\n

“The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers worldwide, courses, and third-party vendors,” said Tiobe.<\/p>\n

The graphs below show how several of the world’s top programming languages have lost market share in the past 10 years.<\/p>\n
