The CareerJunction Index (CJI), which monitors online employment trends in South Africa, has published its latest findings on the Information Technology sector.<\/p>\n
According to a press statement from CareerJunction it comes as no surprise that Development & Software is at the forefront of South Africa’s IT skills needs as demand for these skills is significantly high.<\/p>\n
“South African businesses appear to be in particular need of Software Developers with a strong background in .Net, Java and C#. The high demand for Software Developers with these skills creates a competitive environment for recruiters. On the other hand, it provides career seekers with many job opportunities,” the CJI statement said.<\/p>\n
The CJI further noted that Software Developers at skilled and senior level are most sought after in terms of job opportunities, however businesses find it particularly difficult to fill vacancies of this sort. This is seen predominantly in the regions of Gauteng and the Western Cape.<\/p>\n
“One possible solution does stand out from the findings though. A high concentration of qualified Software Developers resides in other regions of South Africa, especially in the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces,” the CJI recommends.<\/p>\n
“Employers and recruiters are therefore encouraged to cast their net wider and look at relocation strategies to fill their positions.”<\/p>\n
“Relocation of talent might positively contribute to a broader strategy that includes the retaining, training and up-skilling of existing and future staff.”<\/p>\n
