MTN yesterday launched its InternetOnTV<\/a> device – a home phone and internet device in one, including a built-in 3G modem that supports 7.2Mbps connectivity.<\/p>\n

This device, MTN says, is aimed at “bringing affordable internet access to South Africa’s unconnected masses.”<\/p>\n

Vodacom last week announced their WebBox Internet TV device<\/a>, also aimed at users who are looking to use their television as a monitor to surf the web.<\/p>\n

The two devices are substantially different – not only in price, but also when it comes to hardware specifications.<\/p>\n

Vodacom’s device is a small (even sexy) keyboard with all functionality built in while MTN’s offering looks like a desktop phone with mouse and keyboard peripheral attachments.<\/p>\n
