Innovation Awards 2016<\/a> is \u201cThe Future of Food\u201d and it challenges entrants to share their ideas, utilizing information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, to transform the way food is developed and distributed.<\/p>\n<p>ICT can make a huge contribution towards sustainability in the food sector in sub-Saharan Africa, which is currently facing a rapidly-growing population.<\/p>\n<p>The rapid population growth will put strain on food security if the food supply cannot match the increasing demand.<\/p>\n<p>As result, food production will need to increase significantly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe encourage young innovators and start-ups to use this opportunity to make a real difference by using ICT to make a positive contribution to food sustainability,\u201d said Ericsson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether your innovation impacts food production, packaging, information availability, or distribution, show us how your idea will change the future of the food industry as we know it.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">$10,000 prize<\/h3>\n<p>The winner of the Ericsson sub-Saharan Africa Innovation Awards 2016 will receive $10,000.<\/p>\n<p>Student entrants are also eligible to enter the Global Innovation Awards 2017.<\/p>\n<p>To enter, share your \u201cBig Idea\u201d about how you will change the food industry as we know it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking for any idea that you think will contribute to the Future of Food \u2013 it can be highly technical or it can be a more social concept but it must employ ICT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By competing in these awards, young innovators and start-ups are given the opportunity to showcase their ideas to the esteemed judging panel.<\/p>\n<p>The top ideas will be showcased at the awards ceremony, exposing the
