{"id":189262,"date":"2016-11-25T07:42:27","date_gmt":"2016-11-25T05:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=189262"},"modified":"2016-11-25T07:43:40","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T05:43:40","slug":"ultra-high-resolution-lcd-for-virtual-reality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/189262-ultra-high-resolution-lcd-for-virtual-reality.html","title":{"rendered":"Ultra-high-resolution LCD for virtual reality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japan Display (JDI) has developed a 3.42-inch low temperature polysilicon (LTPS) TFT LCD specifically designed for virtual reality head displays.<\/p>\n<p>The new LCD provides the performance required for VR applications, including ultra-high resolutions, high-speed response time, high refresh rate, and blinking backlight.<\/p>\n<p>This allows for more life-like images and a more immersive experience, said the company.<\/p>\n<p>Currently-available displays do not satisfy the required level of &#8220;VR quality&#8221; in terms of resolution, response time, and motion quality, it added.<\/p>\n<p>This is because they are not designed for VR applications, but for smartphones.<\/p>\n<p>JDI\u2019s display offers three main enhancements for a better VR experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ultra-high resolution<\/strong> &#8211; The\u00a0ultra-high-resolution display with 651ppi means a user can hardly see pixel structure.
