{"id":190374,"date":"2016-12-03T06:59:28","date_gmt":"2016-12-03T04:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=190374"},"modified":"2016-12-03T07:01:59","modified_gmt":"2016-12-03T05:01:59","slug":"google-testing-new-material-design-on-search-page","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/190374-google-testing-new-material-design-on-search-page.html","title":{"rendered":"Google testing new Material Design on search page"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google is testing a\u00a0subtly-different version of its main search page that implements Material Design principles, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2016\/12\/02\/google-search-material-design\/\" target=\"_blank\">9to5Google reported<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For the accounts where\u00a0the design is being tested,\u00a0the search bar on\u00a0Google&#8217;s homepage\u00a0now features a drop shadow.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the shadow also features on the search results page &#8211; where the app bar\u00a0now extends over the search media tab\u00a0bar.<\/p>\n<p>The Google logo is larger and the gear icon has been replaced by a text link to &#8220;Settings&#8221;. The\u00a0search tools button has been moved from next to the media tabs, to next to the new settings link.<\/p>\n<p>9to5Google reported that certain searches which return\u00a0&#8220;Top News&#8221; results now come up as\u00a0story cards. Up to three may be displayed side-by-side and they may include images.<\/p>\n<p>The changes are shown in the screenshots below.<\/p>\n<p><a
