Afrihost had a busy year, which included the company\u2019s original shareholders taking back control of the ISP.<\/p>\n
Buying its shares back from MTN meant Afrihost had more freedom to launch new products at a faster rate.<\/p>\n
The company surprised the market with its 18-hours free ADSL data on capped accounts and its aggressive pricing on all ADSL products.<\/p>\n
Afrihost also partnered with seven open-access last-mile fibre providers to launch new fibre-to-the-home products.<\/p>\n
Afrihost director Greg Payne told MyBroadband that Afrihost remains \u201c100% committed to making sure our clients get great value and even better service in 2017\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany people in SA are hoping to have fibre in their area soon and we will be partnering with even more open-access providers to increase our coverage significantly,\u201d said Payne.<\/p>\n
Afrihost will also continue to invest extensively in its network next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe now have direct peering\/caching with Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Netflix, and ShowMax, and will continue to bring content closer to our clients and improve the quality of our network.”<\/p>\n
Afrihost also invested heavily in its hosting infrastructure, acquiring the latest cloud technology.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to invest in the latest software, blades, and solid state storage to provide world-class hosting solutions,\u201d said Payne.<\/p>\n
