{"id":191184,"date":"2016-12-26T10:30:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-26T08:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=191184"},"modified":"2016-12-26T10:32:09","modified_gmt":"2016-12-26T08:32:09","slug":"mweb-will-be-run-separately-from-internet-solutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/business\/191184-mweb-will-be-run-separately-from-internet-solutions.html","title":{"rendered":"MWEB will be run separately from Internet Solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Internet Solutions Managing Director Saki Missaikos said MWEB will be run as a separate entity after its planned acquisition.<\/p>\n<p>On 2 December,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/190330-internet-solutions-to-buy-mweb.html\"><strong>Internet Solutions announced<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0it had entered an agreement to acquire MWEB Connect for an undisclosed sum.<\/p>\n<p>The transaction is subject to approval from the relevant competition authorities and shareholders. If successful, the transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMWEB is one of South Africa\u2019s largest consumer ISPs and this acquisition will immediately give Internet Solutions a presence in the large and rapidly-growing consumer market,\u201d said Missaikos.<\/p>\n<p>Questions have been raised on how MWEB will be integrated into Internet Solutions, and whether MWEB and AlwaysOn will merge.<\/p>\n<p>Internet Solutions told MyBroadband that <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/business\/190508-business-as-usual-for-alwayson-following-mweb-acquisition-plan.html\"><strong>AlwaysOn\u2019s strategy remains as is<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and it is business as usual at the company.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.techcentral.co.za\/why-is-is-really-buying-mweb-podcast\/70599\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Speaking on TalkCentral<\/strong><\/a>, Missaikos said MWEB \u201cwill be run separately\u201d, adding that they hope to learn from MWEB\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have been doing it for 15 years. They know how to do this,\u201d said Missaikos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not understand the consumer as well as MWEB does.
