{"id":191874,"date":"2016-12-14T16:22:13","date_gmt":"2016-12-14T14:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=191874"},"modified":"2016-12-14T16:24:56","modified_gmt":"2016-12-14T14:24:56","slug":"google-launches-android-things-an-os-for-iot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/191874-google-launches-android-things-an-os-for-iot.html","title":{"rendered":"Google launches Android Things &#8211; an OS for IoT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has launched <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.android.com\/things\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Android Things<\/strong><\/a>, an operating system for the Internet of Things.<\/p>\n<p>The platform will let users &#8220;build connected devices while leveraging Android APIs and the company\u2019s cloud-based services for delivering updates and enabling voice commands&#8221;, reported <a href=\"http:\/\/thenextweb.com\/gadgets\/2016\/12\/14\/google-launches-android-things\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Next Web<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The report stated that Google is\u00a0combining Brillo with Android Studio, the Android SDK, Google Play Services, and Google Cloud Platform.<\/p>\n<p>Google is also including support for Weave, its IoT communications platform.<\/p>\n<p>Systems\u00a0which already use Weave include\u00a0Philips Hue and Samsung SmartThings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Get started now with the Developer Preview, so you can start designing and developing your own products.
