{"id":19527,"date":"2011-04-05T22:27:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-05T20:27:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-04-05T22:27:00","modified_gmt":"2011-04-05T20:27:00","slug":"stay-out-of-the-red-warns-cell-c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/19527-stay-out-of-the-red-warns-cell-c.html","title":{"rendered":"\u201cStay out of the Red\u201d warns Cell C"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vodacom unveiled its new red branding last week which CEO Pieter Uys said is merely the tip of the iceberg.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This isn&rsquo;t a once-off change, it&rsquo;s a journey and I&rsquo;m confident that as the weeks and months unfold, you&rsquo;ll find the changes run much deeper than simply turning from blue to red,&rdquo; said Uys.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom is investing heavily in its new Vodafone centric brand, adapting the slogan &lsquo;Power to You&rdquo; and spending millions in advertising to introduce its new image to consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom is also using payoff lines like &ldquo;Red is switched on&rdquo;, &ldquo;Red is more&rdquo;, &ldquo;Red is faster&rdquo; and &ldquo;Discover possibilities with red&rdquo;, but Cell has a bit of a different view on the colour red.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday Cell C CEO <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/210083-Lars-P.-Reichelt\">Lars Reichelt<\/a> also joked on Twitter that &ldquo;I&#8217;d rather be in the black than in the red&#8230; since Friday that feeling is particularly strong ;-)&rdquo;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The company is also running an advertising campaign on Google poking fun at Vodacom&rsquo;s new red branding.<\/p>\n<p>In one of its Google text adverts Cell C informs readers that &ldquo;Red means Stop&rdquo;, and urges them to &ldquo;Rather keep browsing with Cell C at only R299pm for 5GB a month&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/vodacom_red_893257953.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Vodacom Red\" title=\"Vodacom Red\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In another ad Cell C warns users to &ldquo;Stay out of the Red &#8211; With Cell C&rsquo;s affordable data deals at only R149pm for 2GB a month&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/google_vodacom_red_416870228.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Vodacom Red Cell C\" title=\"Vodacom Red Cell C\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yet another advertisement titled &ldquo;Are you seeing Red&rdquo; advises consumers to &ldquo;Get Cell C&rsquo;s super fast internet for only R149pm for 2GB a month&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/cellc_red_530367002.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Cell C Red\" title=\"Cell C Red\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is interesting to note that Cell C&rsquo;s &lsquo;red&rsquo; search advertising is running alongside Vodacom&rsquo;s own advertisements punting their new brand.<\/p>\n<p>To view these Cell C advertisements, simply search for &#8216;Vodacom Red&#8217; in Google.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/324589-Are-you-seeing-Red\"><strong>Cell C &#8216;Red&#8217; ad campaign<\/strong><\/a> &lt;&lt; Cool idea?
