{"id":195280,"date":"2017-01-20T07:58:12","date_gmt":"2017-01-20T05:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=195280"},"modified":"2017-01-20T07:59:54","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T05:59:54","slug":"3d-tv-is-dead-finally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gadgets\/195280-3d-tv-is-dead-finally.html","title":{"rendered":"3D TV is dead, finally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>3D TV is dead. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/johnarcher\/2016\/03\/04\/samsung-and-philips-sign-3ds-death-warrant\/#54009e86b681\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Samsung has already dropped 3D support<\/strong><\/a> for its TVs, and LG and Sony will do the same this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/shambling-corpse-of-3d-tv-finally-falls-down-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>CNet reported<\/strong><\/a> that none of Sony and LG\u2019s TVs launched this year will be able to show 3D content.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, South Korea&#8217;s ET News reported that Samsung and LG were stepping away from 3D TV technology.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after Samsung confirmed it was abandoning 3D, Philips did the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c3D is dead,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/news\/philips-takes-aim-oled-says-3d-tv-dead\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>said Danny Tack<\/strong><\/a>, director of product strategy and planning at Philips.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no 3D sources and nobody really wants 3D. It also complicates your TV a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven LG has announced it\u2019s not doing 3D anymore. LG who invested so much in their patterned retarder.
