{"id":195760,"date":"2017-01-25T07:32:42","date_gmt":"2017-01-25T05:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=195760"},"modified":"2017-01-25T07:34:13","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T05:34:13","slug":"do-the-right-thing-microsoft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/195760-do-the-right-thing-microsoft.html","title":{"rendered":"Do the right thing, Microsoft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vivaldi.net\/en-US\/teamblog\/220-it-s-time-to-do-the-right-thing-microsoft\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Vivaldi CEO Jon von Tetzchner has called<\/strong><\/a> on Microsoft to do the right thing and stop resetting the default browser to Edge with Windows 10 upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI refrained from making any comments until now, but my patience has run out,\u201d said von Tetzchner.<\/p>\n<p>Von Tetzchner said he wanted to address how Microsoft\u2019s anti-competitive practices create problems for users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand that Microsoft is concerned with the low usage of Edge, but instead of building a better browser, Microsoft is forcing its product onto people in the most unapologetic manner.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He said that every time Windows 10 upgrades, it changes the default browser to Edge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe same thing tends to happen when a new browser is installed \u2013 for some reason, it leads to restoring Edge as the default option.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Vivaldi CEO added that Microsoft has made it complicated for a non-technical user to bring their default browser back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time to do the right thing.
