{"id":196596,"date":"2017-01-31T12:55:23","date_gmt":"2017-01-31T10:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=196596"},"modified":"2017-01-31T12:56:28","modified_gmt":"2017-01-31T10:56:28","slug":"iburst-switching-to-lte-advanced-the-details","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/196596-iburst-switching-to-lte-advanced-the-details.html","title":{"rendered":"iBurst switching to LTE-Advanced &#8211; The details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>iBurst <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/196024-iburst-decommissioning-its-network.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>recently informed<\/strong><\/a> customers it had started the process of decommissioning its network to make way for super-fast LTE-A.<\/p>\n<p>The new network will replace\u00a0the existing iBurst network as part of a move by Multisource \u2013 which acquired iBurst parent WBS in 2015 \u2013 to create a <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadband\/194778-new-south-african-lte-a-network-roll-out-progressing-well.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>new LTE-A national network<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>iBurst spoke to MyBroadband about its network plans, stating that 24 February marks the\u00a0formal first phase of the iBurst network decommissioning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will usher in a\u00a0new era of high-speed LTE-A wireless broadband in South Africa,&#8221; said iBurst.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The new LTE-A technology will initially be accessible to iBurst customers within available coverage areas. They will receive pre-launch rates through an LTE-A enrollment initiative, the deadline for which has been extended to 31 March 2017.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>iBurst previously stated that the \u201cmigration specials\u201d included a 100GB-per-month LTE-A contract.<\/p>\n<p>Existing iBurst customers can register their no-obligation interest in LTE-A on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iburst.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>iBurst&#8217;s website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">New LTE-A network<\/h3>\n<p>WBS said the official launch date for the new LTE-A network remains &#8220;a closely-guarded secret&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As does the market strategy and new customer pricing.
