{"id":196864,"date":"2017-02-01T16:11:33","date_gmt":"2017-02-01T14:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=196864"},"modified":"2017-02-01T16:12:56","modified_gmt":"2017-02-01T14:12:56","slug":"google-makes-chrome-on-ios-open-source","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/196864-google-makes-chrome-on-ios-open-source.html","title":{"rendered":"Google makes Chrome on iOS open source"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has announced on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.chromium.org\/2017\/01\/open-sourcing-chrome-on-ios.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Chromium Blog<\/strong><\/a> that\u00a0Chrome for iOS is\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rejoining Chromium and being moved into the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/chromium.googlesource.com\/chromium\/src.git\/+\/master\/ios\/\">open-source repository<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Historically, the code for Chrome for iOS was kept separate from the rest of the Chromium project due to the additional complexity required for the platform,&#8221; stated the post.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Due to constraints of the iOS platform, all browsers must be built on top of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WebKit<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> rendering engine.
