{"id":197131,"date":"2017-02-03T09:58:40","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T07:58:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=197131"},"modified":"2017-02-03T10:00:08","modified_gmt":"2017-02-03T08:00:08","slug":"trick-tor-browser-users-into-decloaking-with-windows-drm-protected-files","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/197131-trick-tor-browser-users-into-decloaking-with-windows-drm-protected-files.html","title":{"rendered":"Trick Tor Browser users into decloaking with Windows DRM-protected files"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HackerHouse has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myhackerhouse.com\/windows_drm_vs_torbrowser\/\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>an investigation into using Windows DRM-protected files to\u00a0unmask Tor Browser users.<\/p>\n<p>The attack works against\u00a0people running Tor Browser on Windows and requires them to ignore Tor&#8217;s warning that third-party files can expose their IP address.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is not an attack against Tor or the Tor Browser directly, but a useful way that could be leveraged to identify people attempting to access illegal media content (such as Daesh propaganda),&#8221; said HackerHouse.<\/p>\n<p>The attack tricks a user into opening a\u00a0digitally-signed Windows media file.
