{"id":1988,"date":"2007-11-16T08:12:00","date_gmt":"2007-11-16T06:12:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2007-11-16T08:12:00","modified_gmt":"2007-11-16T06:12:00","slug":"neotel-gains-access-to-sat3-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/1988-neotel-gains-access-to-sat3-safe.html","title":{"rendered":"Neotel gains access to SAT3\/SAFE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking at the company&rsquo;s Enterprise Product launch Neotel Managing Director Ajay Pandey said that Neotel has already gained access to the SAT3 undersea cable system and is connected to the landing station. <\/p>\n<p>Angus Hay, Neotel&rsquo;s Executive Head of Strategy, added that while they currently buy capacity from Telkom the company is in advanced stages to offer their clients full international circuits without using Telkom&rsquo;s network at all. Hay pointed out that a &lsquo;Telkom free&rsquo; circuit is in fact a requirement from one of their large clients.<\/p>\n<p>Hay further pointed out that construction is under way for Neotel to plug-directly into the SAT3 cable.<\/p>\n<p>Hay said that Neotel will purchase unused capacity on the SAT3 cable to serve its international bandwidth needs. No details about Neotel&rsquo;s actual capacity on the cable were given.<\/p>\n<p>Neotel highlighted that they have been contracted to land the SEACOM cable in South Africa &ndash; a system with a design capacity of 1.28 Tbps.<\/p>\n<p>Through its shareholder VSNL Neotel says it provides direct connectivity in Johannesburg to a Global Tier 1 Internet provider.
