The Funny or Die website co-founded by comedians Will Ferrell and Adam McKay win eight Webbys, while Bieber won a people’s choice award for best video, and Angry Birds was named best game.<\/p>\n
Now in their 15th year, the Webbys are widely regarded as the Oscars of the internet. Winners were chosen by a panel of judges including cooking guru Martha Stewart, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Post. The awards will be presented on June 13 in New York.<\/p>\n
Hangover star Zach Galifianakis won three awards – the most of any individual – thanks to his popular web series Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis, while ex-Friends star Lisa Kudrow was a multiple winner for her series Web Therapy.<\/p>\n
The New York Times website scored wins in multiple categories including How-To, Travel and Mobile, while NPR.org was named best website. Arcade Fire’s The Wilderness Downtown won in the video category while ESPN and AOL won several prizes.<\/p>\n
Lego.com won for best homepage, and The New Yorker won for best magazine. WhatImade.com was named the best personal blog.<\/p>\n
“This year’s Webby winners exemplify the type of profound effect the Internet is having on popular culture and the world at large,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards.<\/p>\n
“From Arcade Fire’s reinvention of the music video format with The Wilderness Downtown, or The New York Times coverage of revolution in Egypt and the Middle East, the Internet is the driving force of change in the world today.”<\/p>\n
