{"id":200678,"date":"2017-02-28T08:58:22","date_gmt":"2017-02-28T06:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=200678"},"modified":"2017-02-28T17:10:50","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T15:10:50","slug":"computers-will-make-einstein-look-stupid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/200678-computers-will-make-einstein-look-stupid.html","title":{"rendered":"Computers will make Einstein look stupid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.japantimes.co.jp\/news\/2017\/02\/27\/business\/tech\/softbank-chief-son-lays-10000-iq-computer-vision-jobsian-style\/#.WLR4JW-GOUk\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>SoftBank Group founder Masayoshi Son said<\/strong><\/a> computers will become smarter than humans within three decades.<\/p>\n<p>He said within this period, a single computer chip will have an IQ of 1,000-times that of a human being &#8211; which equates to an IQ of around 10,000.<\/p>\n<p>Considering that <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IQ_classification\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>humans with an IQ over 140 are considered geniuses<\/strong><\/a>, an IQ of around 100,000 will create a world where businesses and societies are redefined.<\/p>\n<p>Son said it will be up to humans to determine whether artificial intelligence will be a friend or foe.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I believe this artificial intelligence is going to be our partner. If we misuse it, it will be a risk. If we use it right, it can be our partner,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.barrons.com\/techtraderdaily\/2017\/02\/27\/netflix-ceo-hastings-in-twenty-fifty-years-we-may-be-entertaining-a-i\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has also said<\/strong><\/a> there will be &#8220;some serious virtual reality&#8221; in 10\u00a0or 20\u00a0years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over 20\u00a0to 50\u00a0years, you get into some serious debate over humans,&#8221; said Hastings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know if you can really talk about entertaining at that point.
