Global Knowledge and TechRepublic recently released their 2011 IT Skills and Salary Report<\/a>, revealing the latest trends in the IT workplace globally. The survey assessed various aspects regarding IT salaries and skills globally, including salary scales according to experience and training.<\/p>\n

IT is one of the fastest-changing professions on the planet which means that the practical knowledge it takes to do most of the jobs in IT is swiftly wiped away and replaced at a very fast pace.<\/p>\n

IT professionals are under a lot of pressure to stay up to date with the latest industry trends, and unsurprisingly over 75% of IT workers took some form of training in the prior year. This is up from 66 percent a year ago.<\/p>\n

Does training translate into higher salaries? 74% of respondents in the IT Skills and Salary survey believe that training can impact their base salary, and they were entirely correct.<\/p>\n

IT professionals who trained in the prior year earn an average of $3,383 or 4.4 percent more than those who did not train. However, experience is a bigger key differentiator in salary levels, as shown in the table below.<\/p>\n
