{"id":203924,"date":"2017-03-23T16:03:14","date_gmt":"2017-03-23T14:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=203924"},"modified":"2017-03-23T16:04:53","modified_gmt":"2017-03-23T14:04:53","slug":"w3cs-encrypted-content-proposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/203924-w3cs-encrypted-content-proposal.html","title":{"rendered":"W3C&#8217;s encrypted content proposal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/2017\/PR-encrypted-media-20170316\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>has put forward a proposal<\/strong><\/a> which paves the way for easier Digital Rights Management implementation online.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The W3C proposal extends HTMLMediaElement providing APIs to control playback of encrypted content.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The API supports use cases ranging from clear key decryption to high-value video, given an appropriate user agent implementation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLicence\/key exchange is controlled by the application, facilitating the development of robust playback applications supporting a range of content decryption and protection technologies,\u201d said the W3C.<\/p>\n<p>This specification does not define a content protection or Digital Rights Management system.
