An armed robbery at the Incredible Connection at Mall of Africa on 31 March shows how brazen local criminals have become.<\/p>\n
CCTV footage of the robbery shows the criminals lingering outside the store at around 21:30, then breaking through the doors and looting the shop.<\/p>\n
There appears to be at least nine suspects, with one guarding the door while the robbery takes place.<\/p>\n
After goods were thrown into bags, they were\u00a0loaded into a trolley from the shopping centre.<\/p>\n
Mall of Africa said the authorities were notified of the robbery and there were no injuries.<\/p>\n
Vanessa Fourie from the Mall of Africa said it is believed that the gang has been active in recent weeks across shopping malls in Gauteng.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this time we have no further information from either the SAPS or the store, but we continue to work closely with them,\u201d said Fourie.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile investigations and related follow-up activities around this incident will continue for as long as possible, the store will continue to trade as usual.”<\/p>\n
She said that the Mall of Africa\u2019s top priority is the safety of its customers and employees, and that it will take all measures necessary to ensure this.<\/p>\n
