The latest figures from the Tiobe Index<\/a><\/strong> and PYPL Index<\/strong><\/a> show that Java is still the most popular programming language in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tiobe and PYPL’s numbers from April 2017, detailed in the table below, also reveal that C-family languages and Python continue to dominate.<\/p>\n

Python was a big gainer in the PYPL index, showing a 3.1% year-on-year increase in market share. Java and C showed a big drop in the Tiobe Index year-on-year, both losing over 5%.<\/p>\n

The biggest mover in the charts, which did not make the top 10, was Go.<\/p>\n

Calculating the rankings<\/h3>\n

PYPL<\/strong> \u2013 The more a language tutorial is searched, the more popular the language is assumed to be. The raw data comes from Google Trends.<\/p>\n

Tiobe<\/strong> \u2013 The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers worldwide, courses, and third-party vendors. Popular search engines are also used to calculate the ratings.<\/p>\n
