{"id":211230,"date":"2017-05-18T09:36:21","date_gmt":"2017-05-18T07:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=211230"},"modified":"2017-05-18T09:37:59","modified_gmt":"2017-05-18T07:37:59","slug":"facebook-explains-what-clickbait-headlines-really-are","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/211230-facebook-explains-what-clickbait-headlines-really-are.html","title":{"rendered":"Facebook explains what clickbait headlines really are"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Clickbait has become a term which is often used incorrectly, and\u00a0Facebook has now provided\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/news\/2017\/05\/news-feed-fyi-new-updates-to-reduce-clickbait-headlines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>clear description<\/strong><\/a> of what it defines\u00a0as clickbait.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can now better detect different kinds of clickbait headlines by separately identifying signals that withhold or exaggerate information,\u201d said Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook described clickbait headlines as those that withhold information intentionally, leave out crucial details, or mislead people &#8211; such as:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When She Looked Under Her Couch Cushions And Saw THIS\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It said clickbait headlines also exaggerate the details of a story with sensational language:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>WOW! Ginger tea is the secret to everlasting youth.
