{"id":215886,"date":"2017-06-19T08:32:13","date_gmt":"2017-06-19T06:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=215886"},"modified":"2017-06-19T08:33:34","modified_gmt":"2017-06-19T06:33:34","slug":"linux-4-14-kernel-will-be-a-long-term-support-branch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/215886-linux-4-14-kernel-will-be-a-long-term-support-branch.html","title":{"rendered":"Linux 4.14 kernel will be a Long Term Support branch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Linux kernel maintainer Greg Kroah-Hartman\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/+gregkroahhartman\/posts\/DmKQJZMVTXG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a><\/strong> that the Linux 4.14 kernel series will be a Long Term Support version.<\/p>\n<p>This means Kroah-Hartman will support the kernel for at least two years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.softpedia.com\/news\/linux-4-14-to-be-the-next-lts-kernel-series-supported-for-at-least-2-years-516520.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Softpedia<\/strong><\/a> noted that the development of the Linux 4.14 kernel has not begun yet.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, development is underway on Linux 4.12, which should be promoted to a stable release in the coming month.
