{"id":218700,"date":"2017-07-07T08:08:48","date_gmt":"2017-07-07T06:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=218700"},"modified":"2017-07-07T08:11:26","modified_gmt":"2017-07-07T06:11:26","slug":"icasa-must-regulate-mobile-data-prices-ispa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/218700-icasa-must-regulate-mobile-data-prices-ispa.html","title":{"rendered":"ICASA must regulate mobile data prices &#8211; ISPA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Urgent intervention to bring down the price of mobile data is a priority for South African consumers and the government, but not for the country&#8217;s telecommunications regulator, said ISPA.<\/p>\n<p>It said ICASA is dithering by announcing <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/218002-icasa-investigation-into-high-data-prices-begins.html\">a process<\/a><\/strong> to determine which areas to focus on when exercising its powers.<\/p>\n<p>ICASA said it intends to complete an investigation into data prices by April 2018 and will look at interventions following this.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The priority market for intervention is obvious and there is no need to waste more time,&#8221; said Dominic Cull, ISPA&#8217;s regulatory advisor.<\/p>\n<p>ISPA said the\u00a0Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services has made government\u2019s position clear.
