{"id":225514,"date":"2017-08-22T14:58:16","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T12:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=225514"},"modified":"2017-08-22T16:24:53","modified_gmt":"2017-08-22T14:24:53","slug":"problematic-configuration-change-resulted-in-data-and-airtime-bug-vodacom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/225514-problematic-configuration-change-resulted-in-data-and-airtime-bug-vodacom.html","title":{"rendered":"Problematic configuration change resulted in data and airtime bug &#8211; Vodacom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vodacom has stated that a\u00a0configuration change on its\u00a0prepaid and top-up billing system &#8211; which proved to be problematic &#8211; resulted in users losing airtime and data.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were able to roll back this process during the course of [Monday] night,&#8221; said Vodacom.<\/p>\n<p>The operator said\u00a0Prepaid and Top Up subscribers who were active on the network were affected by the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Those affected by the billing bug\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/225418-vodacom-disappearing-airtime-and-data-problem.html\">complained about missing data<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0airtime depleting for no apparent reason.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Reimbursement<\/h3>\n<p>Vodacom said it will reimburse subscribers who were affected by the billing issue on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>All out-of-bundle charges incurred during the incident are being refunded, and depleted bundles are being reinstated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have completed the vast majority of airtime refunds and reinstated impacted data bundles. We are committed to ensuring that all affected customers are refunded in full,&#8221; said Vodacom.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Update &#8211; Clients reimbursed<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Vodacom confirms that it has reimbursed customers affected by last night\u2019s billing issue and remains committed to ensuring that all customers are refunded in full,&#8221; said Vodacom.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We thank customers for their patience while the matter was being resolved and reiterate our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
