The Broadcasting, Electronic and Media Workers’ Union (Bewamu) has welcomed the probe by the SIU into corruption at the SABC, according to the Sunday Independent.<\/p>\n
Bewamu president Hannes du Buisson said the investigation’s recommendations should be implemented by the SABC board, unlike a previous investigation into dealings at the broadcaster.<\/p>\n
“We can hope the report will be made public, and we should insist that it be made public so that the recommendations can be implemented,” said du Buisson.<\/p>\n
The report stated that the chairman of the portfolio committee on communications, Humphrey Maxegwana, also supported the investigation into the SABC.<\/p>\n
