{"id":228261,"date":"2017-09-08T08:27:36","date_gmt":"2017-09-08T06:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=228261"},"modified":"2017-09-08T08:53:06","modified_gmt":"2017-09-08T06:53:06","slug":"google-drive-for-pc-and-mac-shutting-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/228261-google-drive-for-pc-and-mac-shutting-down.html","title":{"rendered":"Google Drive for PC and Mac shutting down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google said in a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com\/2017\/09\/drive-file-stream-from-google.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog post<\/a><\/strong> that it will end support for its Drive cloud storage app on Mac and PC from 11 December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The service will be replaced by a unified cloud storage client called Backup and Sync, which includes all the features in Google Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Google Photos will also lose support on 11 December and its features will be integrated into Backup and Sync.<\/p>\n<p>Enterprise and G-Suite customers will gain access to Google&#8217;s new Drive File Stream platform, which allows users to stream files on demand, sync individual files, and access files in Team Drives.<\/p>\n<p>The Google Drive service will shut down completely on 12 March 2018.
