{"id":234820,"date":"2017-10-27T08:07:16","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T06:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=234820"},"modified":"2017-10-27T08:08:56","modified_gmt":"2017-10-27T06:08:56","slug":"reddit-cracks-down-on-offensive-communities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/234820-reddit-cracks-down-on-offensive-communities.html","title":{"rendered":"Reddit cracks down on offensive communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reddit is cracking down on communities built around offensive content, shutting down subreddits like \/r\/Nazi and \/r\/SexWithDogs, reported\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/tech-policy\/2017\/10\/reddit-conducts-wide-ranging-purge-of-offensive-subreddits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ars Technica<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The purge comes after Reddit\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/modnews\/comments\/78p7bz\/update_on_sitewide_rules_regarding_violent_content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced a new policy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on content that incites violence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will take action against any content that encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual or a group of people,&#8221; said Reddit. This includes harm\u00a0to animals.<\/p>\n<p>Ars Technica noted that several controversial subreddits remain online, however.
