{"id":236492,"date":"2017-11-07T11:08:07","date_gmt":"2017-11-07T09:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=236492"},"modified":"2017-11-07T11:10:12","modified_gmt":"2017-11-07T09:10:12","slug":"internet-solutions-expands-parklands-data-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/236492-internet-solutions-expands-parklands-data-centre.html","title":{"rendered":"Internet Solutions expands Parklands data centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Internet Solutions has broken ground on a prefabricated extension to its Parklands data centre.<\/p>\n<p>The company said the\u00a0extension is the first of its kind at this scale in sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Its design accommodates flexible modules, tailored to specific market requirements, contained within a modern exterior structure,&#8221; said IS.<\/p>\n<p>Phase one of the expansion will come online in July 2018 and will contain 130 racks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Subsequent modules will be ordered in configurations best suited to client demands. On completion, at a total cost of approximately half a billion rand, the data centre will provide a total capacity of 572 racks and 2.2 megawatts of IT power.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>IS said traditional brick-and-mortar facilities require substantial initial capital outlay and typically take at least 24 months to build and bring online.
