Huawei said it has signed contracts with over 60 cities for solutions relating to smart city ecosystems, and already has 120 projects in place.<\/p>\n
The smart city solution is a system that features design, integration, operations, service applications, and ICT infrastructure elements.<\/p>\n
Cities will use the solution to\u00a0sense, analyse, and collect data from city operations and management systems, so managers can respond to governance, citizen, and business needs.<\/p>\n
Huawei\u2019s smart city solution incorporates cloud, network, and platform technologies, along with robust security.<\/p>\n
The company made the statement at the\u00a0Smart City Expo World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, where it is looking to expand smart city “nervous systems”.<\/p>\n
It said that by 2025, 27 megacities with 10 million residents or more will exist – placing pressure on public transportation, hospitals, waste systems, and the power grid.<\/p>\n
\u201cCities of the future will need to be dynamic and constantly evolve to keep pace with citizen expectations for high-quality services and efficient systems, while ensuring sustainability,” said Huawei.<\/p>\n
Joe So, CTO for the enterprise business group at Huawei, said the company spent $4 billion in 2016 on smart city development – a 40% growth on an annual basis.<\/p>\n
