{"id":238638,"date":"2017-11-21T17:50:20","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T15:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=238638"},"modified":"2017-11-21T17:52:13","modified_gmt":"2017-11-21T15:52:13","slug":"skype-pulled-from-chinese-app-stores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/238638-skype-pulled-from-chinese-app-stores.html","title":{"rendered":"Skype pulled from Chinese app stores"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apple has removed Skype from the App Store in China, reported the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/11\/21\/business\/skype-app-china.html\">New York Times<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It said China&#8217;s\u00a0Ministry of Public Security informed the company that a number of VoIP apps do not comply with local laws.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Therefore these apps have been removed from the App Store in China,&#8221; said Apple.<\/p>\n<p>News of Skype&#8217;s disappearance comes after <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/230517-china-disrupts-whatsapp-texts-as-it-improves-censorship-tools.html\">WhatsApp stopped working in China<\/a><\/strong> earlier this year.
