{"id":239364,"date":"2017-11-24T16:28:59","date_gmt":"2017-11-24T14:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=239364"},"modified":"2017-11-24T16:33:54","modified_gmt":"2017-11-24T14:33:54","slug":"firefox-to-warn-you-about-hacked-websites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/239364-firefox-to-warn-you-about-hacked-websites.html","title":{"rendered":"Firefox to warn you about hacked websites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mozilla is working on a new Firefox feature which will warn users about websites which have been hacked.<\/p>\n<p>Mozilla has partnered with security expert Troy Hunt to search multiple data breaches to see if email addresses have been compromised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs many people have now worked out, yes, we&#8217;re doing some awesome things with Mozilla and Haveibeenpwned,\u201d Hunt said on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>An extension has been <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/nhnt11\/BreachAlerts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>released on GitHub<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0which is a forerunner to the feature in Firefox. It notifies users when their credentials have possibly been leaked or stolen in a data breach.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2017\/11\/23\/firefox-notification-breached-sites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Hunt told Engadget<\/strong><\/a> that Firefox is currently only looking at which sites have been breached.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re discussing other ways of using the data in the future.
