Qualcomm announced its Always Connected PC concept earlier this year, promising to bring the best parts of smartphone technology to PCs.<\/p>\n

This new category of computers will offer \u201cbeyond all-day\u201d battery life, and promises to be always connected.<\/p>\n

Standby time will be four or five-times greater than current laptop computers.<\/p>\n

With integrated cellular and Wi-Fi radios, the devices are built to offer gigabit connectivity anywhere there is coverage.<\/p>\n

The new PCs will run Windows 10, and the executive vice-president of Microsoft Windows and devices, Terry Myerson, painted a picture of what the experience will look like.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Qualcomm Technology summit in Maui, Myerson said he had the opportunity to use a pre-release Always Connected PC.<\/p>\n

For a week he was able to work on the machine, using applications like Excel and Outlook. He was also able to play games.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t plug in once that entire week. Not carrying on a power cord is just liberating,” said Myerson.<\/p>\n
