{"id":244460,"date":"2018-01-12T07:29:03","date_gmt":"2018-01-12T05:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=244460"},"modified":"2018-01-12T07:30:24","modified_gmt":"2018-01-12T05:30:24","slug":"skype-launches-private-conversations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/244460-skype-launches-private-conversations.html","title":{"rendered":"Skype launches Private Conversations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Skype has launched <a href=\"https:\/\/support.skype.com\/en\/faq\/FA34824\/what-are-private-conversations-in-the-new-skype\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Private Conversations<\/strong><\/a>, which offers end-to-end encryption of conversations.<\/p>\n<p>Skype\u2019s Private Conversations use Signal Protocol\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/signal.org\/blog\/skype-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>encryption properties<\/strong><\/a> for secure communication.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft has joined organisations like WhatsApp, Google, and Facebook &#8211; which have integrated the Signal Protocol into their messaging platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Features unique to Skype\u2019s Private Conversations include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A lock icon next to your contact&#8217;s name.<\/li>\n<li>Preview messages will not show in chats or notifications.<\/li>\n<li>You cannot edit a message or forward a file. From the chat window, only emoticons, files, and audio messages are available to send.<\/li>\n<li>Private Conversations are specific to a device.
