{"id":247247,"date":"2018-02-01T16:18:37","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T14:18:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=247247"},"modified":"2018-02-01T16:20:21","modified_gmt":"2018-02-01T14:20:21","slug":"telegram-pulled-off-app-store-for-inappropriate-content","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/247247-telegram-pulled-off-app-store-for-inappropriate-content.html","title":{"rendered":"Telegram pulled off App Store for &#8220;inappropriate content&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The iOS apps for Telegram and Telegram X disappeared from the app store today without warning, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2018\/01\/31\/telegram-removed-from-app-store\/\">9to5Mac reported<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were alerted by Apple that inappropriate content was made available to our users and both apps were taken off the App Store,&#8221; said Telegram CEO Pavel Durov.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Once we have protections in place we expect the apps to be back on the App Store.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear what inappropriate content was made available on Telegram, but <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2018\/02\/01\/telegram-apps-fall-foul-of-ios-app-store-content-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TechCrunch reported<\/a><\/strong> that Apple&#8217;s guidelines state apps that facilitate user-generated content must have a\u00a0method for filtering objectionable material from being posted to the app.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We were alerted by Apple that inappropriate content was made available to our users and both apps were taken off the App Store.
