{"id":248220,"date":"2018-02-08T17:49:49","date_gmt":"2018-02-08T15:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=248220"},"modified":"2018-02-08T17:53:14","modified_gmt":"2018-02-08T15:53:14","slug":"twitter-posts-first-profit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/business\/248220-twitter-posts-first-profit.html","title":{"rendered":"Twitter posts first profit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter has announced its first quarterly profit and higher-than-expected revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The company reported fourth quarter revenue of $732 million, an increase of 2% year-over-year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Q4 was a strong finish to the year,&#8221; said Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We returned to revenue growth, achieved our goal of GAAP profitability, increased our shipping cadence, and reached five consecutive quarters of double digit [daily active user] growth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Twitter&#8217;s average monthly active users were 330 million for the quarter, which was flat quarter-over-quarter and up 4% year-over-year.<\/p>\n<p>Total annual revenue was $2.4 billion, a decrease of 3% year-over-year.
