{"id":249189,"date":"2018-02-18T08:04:16","date_gmt":"2018-02-18T06:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=249189"},"modified":"2018-02-18T08:07:03","modified_gmt":"2018-02-18T06:07:03","slug":"inxeba-producers-to-fight-pornography-classification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/249189-inxeba-producers-to-fight-pornography-classification.html","title":{"rendered":"Inxeba producers to fight pornography classification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The producers of Inxeba (The Wound) will fight the Film and Publication Board&#8217;s (FPB) <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/248737-south-africas-latest-award-winning-film-has-been-classified-as-hard-core-pornography-by-the-fpb.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X18 classification of the film<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in court, according to a report in the City Press.<\/p>\n<p>The film&#8217;s producers accused the FPB of censorship and homophobia, stating it did not act according to its classification guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>The SA Screen Federation intends to bring a legal challenge to the FPB over the issue, and said it is confident it will have the film&#8217;s rating changed.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Irregular<\/h3>\n<p>Former FPB film classifiers who spoke to the City Press called the reclassification of the film highly irregular and not in line with FPB guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When it comes to sex, we have to look at explicitness. X is for extreme. It\u2019s porn,\u201d said a former FPB classifier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guidelines say if sex is shown but is not explicit, it cannot be classified X.
