{"id":249983,"date":"2018-02-25T18:40:31","date_gmt":"2018-02-25T16:40:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=249983"},"modified":"2018-02-25T18:42:11","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T16:42:11","slug":"second-generation-nokia-6-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/smartphones\/249983-second-generation-nokia-6-launched.html","title":{"rendered":"Second-generation Nokia 6 launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HMD Global\u2019s \u201cpure, secure, and always up-to-date\u201d Android promise has received an endorsement from Google, with new Nokia devices now in the Android One programme.<\/p>\n<p>New Nokia Android smartphones from the Nokia 3 and up will join the Android One programme, starting with the second-generation Nokia 6.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s already-launched devices, including the first-generation Nokia 6, will not join Android One.<\/p>\n<p>Google&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/smartphones\/104849-android-one-cheap-google-phones-running-stock-android.html\"><strong>Android One programme<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0identifies high-quality, affordable components that can go into next-generation smartphones and makes it easier for manufacturers to build a device.<\/p>\n<p>It also places restrictions on the software a device may run, which includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Devices run stock Android.<\/li>\n<li>OEMs and network operators can auto-install apps from Google Play, but users retain control.<\/li>\n<li>Automatic updates from Google.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Nokia 6 2nd-Gen<\/h3>\n<p>The second-generation Nokia 6 retains its 5.5-inch polarised display, but moves the fingerprint reader to the back of the device.<\/p>\n<p>It has also received dual cameras with Zeiss optics and Nokia\u2019s \u201cbothie\u201d feature, which lets you simultaneously capture photos or video from the front and rear cameras.<\/p>\n<p>HMD Global has also integrated Nokia 360 spatial audio capture and playback technology into the second-generation Nokia 6, along with new hardware.<\/p>\n<p>Performance of the new Nokia 6 is up to 60% higher compared to the first generation, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 platform.<\/p>\n<p>It also comes with 3GB RAM, and Fast Charge via a USB Type-C connector.<\/p>\n<p>The new Nokia 6 will launch in black with copper detailing, white with iron detailing, and blue with gold detailing.<\/p>\n<p>The device will be available from April 2018 for around \u20ac279.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Specifications<\/h3>\n<div class=\"mybb_table\">\n<div class=\"table-responsive\"><table class=\"table\" style=\"width: 100%;\" cellpadding=\"7\">\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th style=\"text-align: center;\" colspan=\"2\">Nokia 6 2nd-Gen<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"32%\"><strong>Dimensions<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"68%\">148.8 x 75.8 x 8.15 mm<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>OS<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>Android 8.0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Display<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>5.5&#8243;
