{"id":259703,"date":"2018-05-11T08:57:16","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T06:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=259703"},"modified":"2018-05-11T09:01:41","modified_gmt":"2018-05-11T07:01:41","slug":"google-duplex-will-identify-itself-to-humans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/259703-google-duplex-will-identify-itself-to-humans.html","title":{"rendered":"Google Duplex will identify itself to humans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google&#8217;s Duplex voice technology will identify itself as an AI assistant when speaking to humans, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/google-says-its-designing-duplex-with-disclosure-built-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CNET<\/strong><\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Duplex will be used with the Google Assistant to improve the AI&#8217;s voice technology, making it sound like a human speaker.<\/p>\n<p>The technology will allow Google Assistant to call up humans and book appointments or reservations, a feature which Google showed off during its I\/O developer conference.<\/p>\n<p>Duplex has caused controversy due to its accurate reproduction of human speech, including its use of lifelike pauses and verbal ticks like &#8220;uh&#8221; and &#8220;um&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Google has now confirmed that the technology will be designed with disclosure built in, and will identify itself when talking to humans.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We understand and value the discussion around Google Duplex &#8211; as we&#8217;ve said from the beginning, transparency in the technology is important,&#8221; said Google.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are designing this feature with disclosure built in, and we&#8217;ll make sure the system is appropriately identified.
